Patrick Butler has recently served as supervising sound editor
and lead mixer on four feature length productions including three
which were released theatrically and have received international
awards.
Patrick has supervised sound production and mixed for most Canadian
mainstream and specialty television networks and has recently
completed three television series projects and two one hour music
specials. He has sound supervised numerous documentaries for History
Channel, Discovery, National Film Board, CBC, CTV, and was the
sound supervisor on Mounties - Tall Boots to Fill
a multi-award winning production for Global.
He has also received international acclaim for work with well
known Canadian experimental film maker Richard Kerr. His films
"Last Days of Contrition" and "Cruel Rhythm"
have won top honors in San Francisco, Athens, Sydney and other
major film festivals. He has worked with renowned film maker Robin
Schlaht and was the sound supervisor and music producer on his
film Moscow Summer which won numerous awards including
Best Foreign Film at the Charleston World Film Festival.
A musician himself, Patrick has produced numerous CDs and
original works for film and television. Production credits include
a recent childrens album with the Regina Symphony Orchestra
entitled "A Prairie Alphabet Musical Parade" by award
winning composer Elizabeth Raum. This is a companion work to the
phenomenal Canadian best seller "A Prairie Alphabet"
by Jo Bannatyne-Cugnet and Yvette Moore. The music has received
excellent reviews both locally and nationally. He also recorded
and produced all music tracks for Heartbeat - World Rhythms
- a powerful one hour television special featuring drums and dance
from around the world.
Patrick has received many awards including six Saskatchewan Showcase
Film and Video "Best Sound" Awards. Projects he and
his dedicated sound team have worked on have won numerous awards
and nominations including Emmys, Geminis, Banff Rockies,
World Film Fest, CanPros, Golden Sheafs, Cable Ace,
and many others.
PROTRAX Digital with Patrick Butler as sound supervisor were the
sound team on the Gemini award winning TV movie - "The Garden"
- for Best Children's Production.
